Le temps des framboises (2022)

Elizabeth inherits the family farm following the death of her husband, who had concealed that he was gravely ill. Standing up to her in-laws and taking on the immense task of a novice now running the whole operation, she plunges headlong into this new and often-unpredictable life. Among other things, she will have to fight against what she considers to be ethically-immoral agricultural practices, hyper-controlling in-laws and, unexpectedly, an impossible love. Throughout this bumpy journey, she will grow and she will learn, in part through meeting the farm's seasonal workers, and, in particular, their leader Francisco, destined to be both overwhelming and cathartic in her life. While Elizabeth had never really given the migrant workers much thought, in time they will almost become a second family to her. In their respective solitudes - hers of mourning and theirs of exile from their homeland - both islands are destined to find solace and an unexpected refuge.
