Gothia Cup (1975)

It started in 1975 as a local funny world cup, for kids, then the cup kept growing with large interests for all countries. "The Gothia Cup shall be a meeting place for the young people of the world, regardless of color, gender or religion." This was written in 1981 and remains the guiding principle for the organization to this day. With more than one million participants from 143 countries and with a name as the world's biggest youth event, we can justifiably claim that we have succeeded. In 1988 the cup became worldwide famous thanks to the girl team from Taiwan who be came the first Asian world cup winners. In the mid 90s all provinces qualified with over 120 teams from each province both boys and girls to represent their country in the biggest event for all kids, the gothia cup.
