"Fred et cie" was a Quebec cultural TV show featuring puppetry, which aired from Monday to Thursday at 7 p.m. on Radio-Canada between June 6 and July 7, 1994. The show was canceled after only five weeks of broadcast. The concept of the show was to cover cultural activities in a fun and entertaining way. Each episode was hosted by two puppets, while four other puppets acted as reporters covering cultural news in Quebec. The show was created by Guy Bonnier, Denis Sabouret, Benoît Chartier, and Michel Icart, and directed by Pierre Séguin. The puppets were created by Norbert Lemire, and the show was produced by Jean Leclerc of Deux temps trois mouvements. The show's cast included Sylvie Comtois, Michel Ledoux, Michel Ranger, André Meunier, and others. Despite the creators' intention to produce a weekly show, Radio-Canada had requested a summer replacement for another program and chose "Fred et cie" after receiving a pilot episode. Although it was intended to last only one summer, the show would have continued if it had been well received by the public and had high ratings. However, the show was canceled due to poor ratings and negative feedback from viewers who had seen the show.
