Straight News (2000)

Veteran journalist Yajima returns to studio work after 6 years as an overseas war zone reporter determined to turn the traditionally passive Japanese news program into an actual investigative journalism show. For his first broadcast, he runs a story that exposes some embarrassing government secrets. His superiors are shocked, but the viewers love it. Rumors begin to swirl, however, and the star reporter admits that there may be deeper story hidden behind his supposed scoop.
