Choirmaster Gareth Malone believes everyone should sing. As such, he has brought choral music first to a co-ed high school, and then a boys only school, neither which had a recent history of choir singing. He takes on as his next challenge setting up a choir in South Oxhey, a post-WWII estate of 12,000 north of London. South Oxhey not only has no choirs, but is seen both by residents and the outside world as a place devoid of culture. Gareth not only has to overcome this perception, but also has to make his choirs feel all inclusive to the many different and quite separate factions within South Oxhey, most who don't associate with the others at the best of times.
