Anyone can end up in jail, even an innocent person. Neither money nor public opinion nor power can help. That's when a lawyer can become the last hope, with his way with words and knowledge of the law. A lawyer like our hero, former prosecutor Trofim Petrovich Streltsov. A harsh man with a keep sense of justice, Petrovich teaches law at a college and opens a private practice in his own apartment after retiring. But even while defending his clients, he continues doing what he always did - searching for criminals. Because Petrovich believes that criminals belong in jail.
