Between the Earth and the Sky (2023)

The characters live in a world where reincarnation exists, but is capitalized on. Wendel, a charged old man converted into a raccoon, and Stanley, an alienated boy turned puppy. As animals, Wendel and Stanley spend their last day in the afterlife together doing some of their favorite things. Wendel eventually overcomes his fear of telling Stanley of death, and Stanley learns the value of friendship.
