A rebellious child in the nursery in a country house of Normandy won't do his homework. The child breaks his toys and hurts the animals around him. In his room and in the garden - in dream-like scenarios often compared to Alice in Wonderland - he gradually finds comfort and meaning, he comes to terms with his situation and becomes ready to reconcile with his mother.
