Argwaan - A Documentary About Luc Tuymans (2023)

Luc Tuymans is one of Belgium's most internationally renowned painters. We see him working on a large mural, in his studio, on the drawing board and as a curator. He continuously searches for intriguing images, wherever they may come from. His past speaks to us through his paintings, through movie clips he made and through a school drawing that he made as a child. He is preparing a new expo for the Venetian Palazzo Grassi through computer animation. In anticipation of this grand event, he keenly philosophizes about art, the surgical technique of painting, the world of nightlife, war, people and society. Painting is a solitary practice. Nothing is what it seems and tragedy is bubbling beneath the surface of all things.
