Charlotte, a woman suffering from dissociative identity disorder, is preparing a wrecked tea party for her mother. As she waits, we are introduced to her muddled personalities which are manifested through stuffed animals: a dismal elephant, a bitter bear and an optimistic bunny. Due to a series of unfortunate events, the party turns into a chaotic arena where Charlotte's divergent characters quarrel with each other until one of them savagely swipes the table clear. Charlotte frantically tries to fix the table when a cuckoo clock wildly chimes, signing the mother's arrival. As the front door opens, we dip into Charlotte's memory in which Angelica, her mother, walks in speaking on the phone and a younger Charlotte dashes towards her and drags her towards the table. However, Angelica, fully indulged in her job, neglects her daughter's needs. Left alone with her teddy bears, young Charlotte faces her loneliness by innocently moving and voicing her toys as in a game. However, we abruptly hurl back to the present day to see that this coping mechanism has developed into a disorder and Charlotte lives in a distorted reality in which she physically embodies each of her identities. When the door does not open, Charlotte, as usual, resets the table, ready to throw another 'perfect' tea party for her never-arriving mother.
