The period of 1980-1985 was an exciting and turbulent era of Rugby League Football. The introduction of the 10 minutes sin bin for foul play and four points for a try. The introduction of State of Origin series and more teams into the competition. Then a corruption scandal which forced the change of the administration. With the arrival of New Zealand Captain Mark Graham to the club in 1981 and with Ron Willey who was a leading coach at the time the Bears attracted many players to the club. These included a host of up and coming young players wanting to play with the Bears instead of going elsewhere and international players from both Rugby League and Rugby Union. The North Sydney team was one of the best making the semi finals in 1982 and unlucky not to go further. After that, long term injuries to key players caused disappointing seasons although they had some amazing results on the field.
