Learning Hispanic (2021)

Learning Hispanic is a coming-of-age series that highlights and honors the Hispanic culture while discussing topics of race, identity, and relationships without contributing to damaging stereotypes. After Antonia loses her job at a major law firm in Malibu due to sexism in the workplace, she uproots herself and her 17-year-old daughter, Camilla, into her parent's home across town in her childhood neighborhood of Huntington Park- one with a primarily Hispanic population. Camilla experiences the growing pains of being biracial as she leaves her privileged bubble for the first time and begins to make connections with the people in her new community while coming to terms with the relationships she is outgrowing but clings to in her old one. Having grown away from their Hispanic roots, Camilla and Antonia must relearn what it means to be a part of their culture and decide which world they want to be a part of.
