"A Declaration Of Love" is a film that wants to bring into sharp focus what happens on a very intimate level to someone who survives the experience of being on death row. Curtis McCarty was sentenced to death in 1985 for a crime he didn't commit. He spent 22 years in prison, 19 of them on death row. Buried alive below ground in a concrete room with no windows in Oklahoma State Penitentiary, he was exonerated in 2007 and set free. After his release, without any help or support, his life fell apart. He became homeless and drug-addicted. Curtis's story is so powerful and brutally extreme that it must be told, giving voice to a human being who is being cruelly persecuted by a perverse legal system. "A Declaration Of Love" is a visual journey through Curtis's sense of displacement and disorientation in a world where he doesn't belong anymore.
