Pandharwada (2020)

The Kattode family living in an adivaasi paada on the border of Maharashtra and Gujarat were scammed during the demonetization affecting their finances on an extreme level, creating debts. Leaving behind the self owned land and a few kaat trees Bhausaheb Kattode (45)now works for a rich family by cutting dried branches of kaat and saag trees and Hausabai (38) does household work for the same family. Phashi (15) and Kondhaji(10),two children of the famiy are notorious and playful. Studied barely till the third grade, these kids roam the paada entire day having their own beautiful world. As Bhausaheb cant pay rent on the fortnight as the routine is, the landlord and Hausabai insist him to sell the antique table with him which is a valued ancestral property. Bhausaheb righteously denies, but cannot deny the suggestion of the landlord to shift to the nearby city. With full of excitement and the blessings of the full moon on the fortnight, they leave for the city. With fascination they enter a waada in the city. Confused with the old city and the picture of the enormous civilization, Bhausaheb sells fruits and Hausabai and Phashi work as domestic helpers leaving kondhaji alone. Though the city showed dreams, the family still finds themselves in the loop of poverty and the worry about the rent to be paid on the fortnight as usual. To save the family, Bhausaheb takes a big step creating a difference. The emotional world of the children, the practical problems faced by the parents and the vulnerability in the city is PANDHARWADA all about.
