"THE TELEPHONE MINUTE" sheds some light on how communication has evolved since the 1950s. "The Telephone Hour" (from the musical "Bye Bye Birdie"), is a musical number where teenagers from Sweet Apple, Ohio gossiped via telephone - landlines to be more specific (what are those?!). During this musical number, groups of friends expressed their thoughts/concerns on Hugo Peabody and Kim MacAfee "going steady" (what the kids refer to now as "we don't want to put a label on it") and Kim "getting pinned" (what the kids refer to now as "being exclusive").
