Bluebird (2022)

Lydia is a young woman trying to come to terms with the difficulty of her relationship with her father Ian. Lydia's mother has been absent since she was a young child and her father Ian, struggling with alcoholism, has never been able to grasp his responsibilities as a parent. Isolated, confused and abandoned, Lydia has found herself working in an old strip club in an attempt to replace the confused dynamics at home for more straight forward ones, or so she believes. Set across 24 hours, Bluebird allows us a glimpse into Lydia's everyday and her subconscious search for attention and affection. We meet George, a young man, who is charming and mischievous; and has a real fascination with Lydia. They have a beautiful chemistry and a solid friendship but George wants more - he'd like to have a romantic relationship with Lydia. As things appear to escalate with Ian and George expressing more interest, Lydia's grasp on herself and her relationships continues to slip and we begin to wonder if this bright and funny woman will ever have the chance to have a healthy and loving relationship. Finally towards the end of our 24 hours, Lydia's character, wants and desires are put to a test when she has to make a decision in a situation she never thought she would face.
