In a future world, intelligent machines will replace half the planet's work force; causing worldwide chaos. Synthetic entities will also be rented out as pleasure droids. They are like us in every way except one: they lack the ability to feel emotion. Jack Donovan is a rekkie, a special agent assigned to recover stolen entities. One entity that he recovers is unlike any other that he has come across. She not only has feelings but also a troubling past.
