For over 600 years, East Africa Maasai tribe warriors proved their bravery and skill by killing lions. With the lion numbers now in decline, the tribe elders in Kenya and Tanzania abolished this practice. The tribe members now actively promote the conversation of Africa's wildlife, helping to reduce the number of poachers attacking their endangered animals. As an alternative to hunting, the young warriors also compete with each other in the biennial Maasai Olympics.
