Antony Firingee

Set on the time, when rich Bengal market was dominated by the Portuguese traders: Hensman Anthony, a Portuguese businessman, commonly known as Antony Firingi, came to India as the trader, along with big Portuguese contingent. But, instead of concentrating in business, he became a Bengali poet, singer and avid Maa Kali devotee in the early part of the 19th century. That was the period of Bengal renaissance! He falls in love with ace singer and courtesan Nirupama, alais Saudamini and decided to live together. Story revolves around their love and their vicious fight with the system, in spite of being celebrity singer and devotee of Maa Kali and a respected "Firingi". ANTONY FIRINGI is a beautiful love story woven around the Bengali music, poetry and the then socio-political milieu, which is more relevant today.
