This historical drama focuses on the life of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, better known as "Sissi", who is turning 40 and experiencing first-hand the public scrutiny surrounding her idolised beauty. However, these conventions end up overwhelming her and reduce her life to a single sphere that ends up pigeonholing her.
