Jordan is comforted by his mother after yet another bullying incident while leaving school. She overhears her hyper-masculine husband approaching and decides to hide Jordan's tears behind a Dominican cultural mask, under the pretense that it will give Jordan the strength to stand up to his bully. The mask serves as a sponge, allowing Jordan to be influenced by his abusive father's toxic examples of masculinity. When Jordan applies his father's teachings to confront his bully, he'll find that the mask hides more than just his tears.
