Too Young to Wed: Guatemala (2015)

Aracely was married at 11 to a 34-year-old man. She bore him a son when she was 14. Nearly one-third of all girls in Guatemala will be married before they turn 18. In fact, it is legal there for a girl to marry as young as 14, though many like Aracely are married been younger than that. The result is that many girls stop their education while still in elementary school, marry men much older than themselves and become mothers long before they are physically and emotionally ready.
