"Hellacious" tells the story of Steve Gym, the most established, yet underground powerlifting gym in Iceland, where the venerated power guru Steve, a sixty-six year old Decathlon champion, has for four decades trained the strongest of Icelandic men, as well as underdogs and the shadier characters of Reykjavik, most of whom are certifiably insane. This documentary gives a rare glimpse into the peripheral subculture of the north's most reputed strongmen, once a source of national pride but now all but invisible to the public eye. World Champions such as the poet Kári the Cat, who allegedly has nine lives and laughs in the face of heart attacks - as well as the all time deadlift World Record holder Benedikt Magnusson go abroad to tournaments where their training with Steve lead them to international acclaim.
