Inspired by art collection named "Girl in the Ice Cube," which was created by real life Afghan graffiti artist Malina Suliman who had to flee Afghanistan due to Taliban threats. Girl in the Icebox is a story that follows a young graffiti artist by the name of Madina. Madina lives in the worst places in the world to be a woman and the birthplace of the Taliban; Kandahar, Afghanistan. Despite art having been shelved in the country due to 30 years of war, Madina finds her voice by discovering graffiti. With the entire city as her audience, she begins to tag walls with art that has controversial messages. Confined by her strict society, she sneaks out at night to paint them concealing herself with the very tool they use to oppress her; her burqa. When things take a rocky turn, Madina's rebellion is discovered. Will she be able to give up the new voice she's found or will it be too late? This film is a fictional spin on what might have happened to a female artist in Malina's same predicament, had she not been able to leave.
