Rift (2017)

Rift follows Stan, a father who is inadvertently responsible for the death of his daughter, Katie. Unable to find closure, he seeks comfort in a virtual reality program called Rift, which has the ability to store the consciousness of the deceased onto an external hard drive and gives Stan the opportunity to interact with a life-like simulation of Katie. While Claire, Stan's wife, also struggles with their loss, she is wary of the ethics of using Rift and a clash of ideologies leads Stan to keeping his use of the program a secret. As the strength of his marriage is put to question, Stan must decide between virtual reality and the real world.
