A man and a woman meet in an apartment in Berlin to discover what affection, desire and sexuality can be salvaged in the anonymity of the capital. They thrust themselves into those voids between dominance and submission and trust and suspicion. During their meeting Eros and Thanatos, who both share a difficult family history, are ever-present. But ultimately it is the concept of love, which both characters have the potential for, which enables them to be swept up into a game of desire and fear. And even though the game only lasts as long as footprints in the melting snow, the question remains whether their union symbolizes real love, or whether even when we are in a relationship for years, if we are not essentially always alone?
