Clarissa appears to save Richard from his depression and to get him excited about the party she's hosting for him. Clarissa, who's bisexual and has been living with Sally Lester for 10 years, had been in a relationship with Richard during their college days and where they shared romantic times in the beach. Richard has taken a combination of Xanax and Ritalin and tells Clarissa she is the most beautiful thing he ever had in life, before he commits suicide in front of her, jumping from the window of his NYC apartment.
