In a world silently harsh, in front of which one can only feel stranger to and lost into it, Francesco and Sofia/Anna, they are lonely characters, outsiders, strangers to the place they live, waiting for something to happen, that's when one clings on the other side of the receiver. It's like hanging lives stubbornly trying to recover their own identity.
