Contemporary Balkan Folk music is a combination of a local sound and popular music genres from the West, very well-received in Serbia among the broad masses, but despised by the cultural elite. They see it as a trashy music genre that fulfills the lowest urges of the uneducated strata of society and call it mockingly Turbo Folk. But there is an uprising barbarogenius movement that proudly glorifies CBF's authenticity and freedom of expression, as well as the entire iconography related to it. With beats, loops, and samples, but also through paintings, drawings and prints, these unconventional artists introduce to cultural institutions their diverse CBF reinterpretation - Turbotronik.
