A Woman Under the Influence (1974)

Nick and Mabel Longhetti, a working-class couple in Los Angeles, struggle under the strain of Mabel's mental instability. While Nick, a construction foreman, loves and protects his wife, Mabel's erratic behavior and attempts to embody the ideal wife and mother often spiral out of control, affecting their three children. Her actions prompt Nick to have her institutionalized. After six months, Mabel returns home, but the reunion becomes an emotional ordeal.
