Jesus Christ Superstar (1973)

This rock opera recounts the final days of Jesus Christ through the perspective of Judas Iscariot. The story unfolds as a modern-day theatre troupe arrives in the Negev Desert to re-enact the Passion. Judas, troubled by Jesus' growing influence and his close relationship with Mary Magdalene, fears the movement will provoke Roman intervention. Conflicts arise as religious leaders see Jesus as a threat, leading to a series of dramatic confrontations and betrayals.
