Sweet Country (1987)

Santiago, Chile, 11 September 1973. Following the assassination of President Salvador Allende, General Augusto Pinochet and his supporters overthrow the Popular Unity government and seize power. With the military junta tearing the nation apart, Ben and Anna, an American expatriate couple, find themselves in the thick of a volatile situation when the army arrests Eva Araya, a close friend and person of interest. As a result, Anna, backed by Canadian journalist Paul, joins a clandestine resistance support group, compelled to help. But with everyone's future hanging by a thread, can they save Eva from certain death?
