A Little Princess (1995)

Sara Crewe is a girl who is sent to a boarding school in London while her father is fighting in the First World War. Sara has to deal with hostility from the headmistress of the boarding school and other girls; however, little by little Sara gains the sympathy of all the girls by encouraging them to imagine wonderful stories as an escape from the adversity of the immediate world. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón, it is a beautiful film with stunning cinematography and an impressive performance by actress Liesel Matthews.
