Zagubanski almost runs into an ambush, but manages to escape. It is known that Lenin lives in Munich with a Bulgarian passport provided by Georgi Bakalov from Varna. Gesberg arrives in Varna and goes to Bakalov's bookshop. He introduces himself as a democrat. Bakalov suspects who is the visitor. He warns Zagubanski of the danger. However, Zagubanski boards the boat to Odessa. Dokumiga meets him and turns him in to the police. His captors badly beat Zagubanski in jail. The other prisoners mutiny against the captors.
