Kronblom (1947)

Btl (SE) | Sweden | Swedish | 100 min
Directed by: Hugo Bolander
4.3

Kronblom's creator, cartoonist and writer Elov Persson, sits at his drawing table. He is struggling to get the shape of an episode about his beloved cartoon character. Afterwards, Kronblom appears in living form, as do the other inhabitants of Vinkelboda. Kronblom is laziness personified. He avoids any risk of misbehaving. The sofa cover is his favorite place. In a supine position, he reasons his way to how work tasks should be solved through the care of others, without them feeling exploited -- or at least not discovering it in time. Despite Kronblom's convenience, the relationship with his wife Malin is good. However, he runs into several controversies with his grater for his mother-in-law. A couple of thieves are wreaking havoc in Vinkelboda. All the people are outraged by their progress. And while the gossip runs, Kronblom appears increasingly as a suspect, he who is not like others. The inoffensiveness is interpreted as a cover, the cleverness and work shyness as almost proof. Of course, Kronblom suffers from tangled affairs, and the lawsuits accumulate at the national fiscal. At the same time, Rovlund, a man who owns mortgages in Kronblom's farm, is waiting for the right opportunity to strike. The opportunity will come, the farm must be sold -- and Kronblom himself can buy it. With solid strategy, Kronblom solves all urgent problems. The calm in the home together with Malin is secured. And he even manages to win the approval of his critical mother-in-law.
