Doe (1962)

Yorgis, the stalwart only son of the ruthless chief-herder and rapacious loan shark, Manolis Bournovas, is head-over-heels in love with the village's free-spirited maiden, Droso. Of course, his father, after seizing the defenceless woman's plots of land, opposes this union, preferring Maria, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy family, as his daughter-in-law. Suddenly, the news of Manolis' murder spreads like wildfire in the peaceful community, and now, everyone thinks that Droso is the killer, after her previous heated altercation with the victim. As a result, to escape conviction and punishment, Droso takes refuge in the rugged mountains, where the fearsome bandit, Dimitros Zarvas, and his men are hiding. But, who's behind the hideous homicide? Will Droso ever be able to clear her name?
