October Sky (1999)

Coal mining is the only destiny for any young man in 1950s Coalwood. But Homer doesn't believe that to be true, and when the first artificial satellite is launched into orbit, his passion for rocket building soars. Together with his friends and a supportive teacher - played by an incredible cast - they will face mostly skepticism as they transcend the town's expectations in a quest that challenges everything.
