Agamikal (1983)

"'Agamikal' is the story of Sumita, a girl from a middle class background. Sumita and Sarbajit meet and fall in love. Sarbajit is an unemployed boy while Sumita is a working girl. One day Sarbajit is shattered when he finds out that Sumita works as a call girl. Sumita tells that a failed loveless marriage and poverty forced her into this profession. Sarbajit leaves her and goes away. Sarbajit's father falls seriously ill and needs an immediate heart surgery. Sarbajit fails to get financial help from his relatives and friends. Sumita comes forward and provides the money for surgery. Sharmaji forces Sumita to entertain clients but Sarbajit enters his house and a broil ensues. Sharmaji gets shot by himself. Sarbajit is taken to court and though acquitted gets three years of imprisonment. Sarbajit's mother accepts Sumita as her daughter-in-law and gives her shelter."
