Mr. Station-Master (1972)

WWII. Much to their surprise, a small, 11-person squad, led by Sergeant Stathis Papoulias, comes to realise that war broke out. As the soldiers seek shelter in a nearby Italian-occupied village, another surprise awaits them: the desperate inhabitants welcome Stathis' men as liberators. But when Stathis starts explaining their predicament, greed gives way to shock, and the newcomer becomes the village's station master. In the meantime, the suffocating stranglehold of the enemy tightens around the close-knit community. Is Stathis destined for glory?
