Generation of Heroes (1969)

Ottoman Macedonia, 1908. Against the backdrop of the fierce Macedonian Struggle, a hideous crime before the eyes of God forces young Katerina to flee her village. However, the hapless woman has already caught the eye of the brutal Bulgarian Komitadji, Tsakalarof, who, blind with lust, orders his murderous gang to pillage and destroy the small Greek community. But as the rebels kill everyone in sight, a handful of brave inhabitants decide to fight tooth and nail in the name of freedom, led by Leventis, a selfless, gun-wielding priest. Will Katerina escape from the clutches of the despised invader? Can the oppressed population survive the atrocities of the First Balkan War?
