Vom Hirschkäfer zum Hakenkreuz (2002)

The film narrates in a richly detailed, associative montage the boundless possibilities of manipulating images and using images to seduce. The Historionaut, a history machine, produces an incessant stream of remembered, contemporary and future images. It helps in establishing connections, for instance between the strangely German Kulturfilm and the film avant-garde of La Sarraz. It deals with fascistic pseudo-Darwinism and artificial corruptability, with the makers of Kulturfilm who put their avant-garde narrative, filmic and editing techniques to the service of fascism.
