It is estimated that 1 in 5000 people in the United States have Marfan Syndrome, a genetic disorder of the body's connective tissue which causes overgrowth of bones and the risk of severe heart problems, among other effects. Those with Marfan also have to deal with its profound effect on their physical appearance. IN MY HANDS follows the inspirational stories of a group of children and adults living with Marfan, including the efforts of choreographer Ann Reinking (whose son, Chris, has the disorder) to shape a group of kids with Marfan into a graceful dance troupe.
