The gopher collects peas on the field, preparing for winter, and meets a hamster. While the gopher was talking to a hamster, all the peas he collected were pecked by a sparrow. So that the gopher did not get upset, the hamster suggests showing him a place where there are so many peas that "you haven't eaten it in a hundred years." The hamster leads the gopher to the barn where the peas are kept. Climbing along a tree growing next to them, they enter the barn through a small window. The barn is brim full of peas. Initially, the beasts rejoice and eat peas, but then a quarrel breaks out between them, and they begin to divide the peas.
