Marvin Feldmann has witnessed peak human achievement countless times in his life. At least as often, however, he had to watch people fail when trying to achieve something special - because Marvin is a record observer for the famous "Book of Records". He watches over the correct implementation of the best performances like a hawk. You can't bribe him with money or charm. The sober bureaucrat has long since lost the joy of his extraordinary job. That's why he doesn't react very enthusiastically when his editor-in-chief Loni sends him to Finland: There is said to be a twelve-year-old boy there who can make a flat stone jump on the water 52 times - once more than the previous world record. Since children are always good for circulation, Marvin has no choice. After an arduous journey, the first surprise awaits him on the remote archipelago island of Föglö: Elias was secretly registered for the record attempt by his aunt Fanny. His parents Frieda and Erik didn't know anything about it. Although there is hardly anything their son wants more than to prove to everyone what he's made of, they refuse to give the necessary consent. The reason: Elias suffers from a rare disease. Any major exertion can be life-threatening for him. The villagers Frieda and Erik are able to change their minds at the last second - but Elias does not manage to set a new world record within the allowed time. For Marvin, the case is closed. However, nothing comes of his plan to get home quickly. With cunning and wit, the villagers prevent his departure every day, hoping that he will give Elias a second chance. And lo and behold: Marvin, contrary to expectations, begins to feel more and more comfortable on Föglö. The rough charm of the island and its inhabitants turn the strict bureaucrat into a different person. In particular, the spirited Fanny and the bright Elias grow more and more fond of him. Until one day Loni shows up on the island to bring her "missing" employee back to reality.
