The Palace of Ryugu, When Day Breaks (2013)

Nearly drowning at sea and losing his friend who tried to save him, the main character comes across a mysterious young girl and reconsiders the meaning of life. A tale of loss and recovery ensues. Based on 'Urashima Taro' (the Ryugu legend), one of the most famous old tales that every Japanese person knows, the film is interweaved with the Japanese traditional puppet performance forming a modern day adolescent fantasy.
