The Thunderers

The Thunderers or Y Tarannau in Welsh is an unlikely, absurd, yet TRUE story about the formation of the first American Football team in the country of Wales in the United Kingdom. Wales is a country where the children are born with the game imprinted upon their very souls and their anthem singing in their hearts. Born to be champions; playing the toughest game on earth. Until one day, something strange happened... In 1991, art student Pete, instead of a painting or a sculpture, decided to do a grand art installation: An American football team. This was his grand plan and he talked his friends into helping him: Jane, a no-nonsense law major who believes the best way to attract guys crazy enough to play is by forming a cheer leading squad. Steve, the almost perfect athletic specimen with some anger issues who is very enthusiastic about being able to REALLY hit someone. Finally, Sumo, a gentle giant of a man who would do absolutely anything for his friends so long as there's a pint involved. There were also some lads who thought this was a particularly stupid idea, mainly rugby players, and they were met with outright opposition from others who's only goal was to make money from this organization. Armed with a mixture of pure ignorance, determination, and Madden football on his Sega Genesis, Pete was ready to go but he was missing one ingredient: Someone who has actually played the game before and a rule book with all of the pages to it.
