Professor Lee makes a scientific discovery that, in the wrong hands, could destroy the whole planet in a few hours. His first impulse is to call on Peony, a lady friend he knows to be the girlfriend of an Interpol detective. When they were talking, the line goes blank. Peony gives the alarm to her boyfriend, and makes a hasty departure from home that she shares with a roommate.
