Patch (2020)

Joel, living in a revisionist historical telling of the 1990s - and after the purging of all robots with Artificial Intelligence - builds himself a friend in his trailer park closet, illegally and without his step-father, Clint, knowing. A pal to a boy stripped of meaningful relationships, whom he appropriately names, Patch. A short film about friendship, growing up, and coping with the inevitability of death, this grounded science-fiction film plants its feet firmly in a world where technology takes a back seat to every day drama, and the want for more in a town with no way out.
