He started acting at age five on the children’s TV show Romper Room, and by his teenage years, he appeared in commercials and TV shows like The New Lassie and Roseanne. His big-screen debut came with Critters 3 (1991), and he gained significant recognition with This Boy’s Life (1993) and an Oscar-nominated performance in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993). In the mid-1990s, DiCaprio became a teen heartthrob with Romeo + Juliet (1996) and achieved global fame with Titanic (1997). He chose challenging roles in films like The Beach (2000) and Gangs of New York (2002), and starred in Catch Me If You Can (2002) and The Aviator (2004), receiving an Oscar nomination for the latter. His collaborations with director Martin Scorsese include The Departed (2006) and Shutter Island (2010). DiCaprio earned his first Academy Award for The Revenant (2015) and received additional nominations for The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) and Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood (2019). He starred in Don’t Look Up (2021) and Killers of the Flower Moon (2023). Outside of acting, DiCaprio is a committed environmental activist. He has been involved with the Natural Resources Defense Council and Global Green USA. He has produced and narrated documentaries like The 11th Hour (2007) and Ice on Fire (2019), focusing on climate change and environmental issues.
