Around 2006, Michael returned to acting, appearing in a variety of film and television productions before landing a lead role, in the indie feature "Black Mountain Side". The film received favorable reviews and had an extensive and successful international festival run. In 2017, Michael moved East, continuing work on productions in Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa. His first audition, upon arriving, landed him a role as a professor, in the Hollywood feature "On the Basis of Sex".
